About Company
Founded in 1965 in Famagusta, Cyprus, Dr. Andreas P. Poetis & Co LLC has a long-standing history of providing legal advice and strategic support on international legal, commercial, and technical matters.
Following the events of 1974 and the occupation of Famagusta, the firm relocated its operations to Germany, establishing Hamburg as the centre of its international activities. During this period, Dr. Poetis expanded the firm's international practice, advising clients and participating in projects across multiple jurisdictions worldwide.
In 1992, the firm's headquarters returned to Cyprus and were established in Larnaca, where the practice continues to serve both local and international clients. Dr. Andreas P. Poetis and Sylvia A. Poitiou were also partners in one of the oldest intellectual property firms in Cyprus, DEM D. THEMISTOCLES & CO, established in 1929. Following the retirement of Sylvia A. Poitiou, Dr. Poetis continued to lead the practice as sole partner. Throughout his distinguished legal career, Dr. Andreas P. Poetis has been involved in numerous court proceedings and international projects, representing private clients, entrepreneurs, and corporations. His extensive legal knowledge, practical experience, and professional reputation have established him as one of the most respected and experienced legal practitioners in Cyprus.
Constantinos Kotrofou is a Partner at Dr. Andreas P. Poetis & Co LLC and a qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Cyprus.
He holds an LL.B. in Law from the University of Essex and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Trade and Maritime Law, also from the University of Essex. His postgraduate dissertation examined the impact of WTO rules on trade in financial services and their relationship to the 2007 global financial crisis. Constantinos joined Dr. Andreas P. Poetis & Co LLC in 2018 as a Trainee Lawyer and subsequently practiced as an Associate Lawyer before becoming a Partner of the firm in 2023. His practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, international trade, contractual matters, dispute resolution, and cross-border transactions. He advises both local and international clients, providing practical legal solutions tailored to their business and commercial objectives. Prior to his legal career, he completed his military service in the Cyprus National Guard, serving as an Artillery Sergeant.
